Short biography | David Skogerboe, is a PhD candidate in the History of Science within the Freudenthal Institute at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. His research interests lie in the history of the 20th century ‘Space Age’, with a particular focus on the ‘History of the Future’ and the ways imaginings of the future shape the sociotechnical development and implementation of space technologies. He has previously acted as an intern at the NASA History Office in Washington, D.C. and intends to extend his historical knowledge to European contexts. His current research project focuses on the history of European ‘Satellite Futures’, specifically looking at the evolution of ESRO/ESA’s applications satellite programmes that emerged in the late 1960s in the context of communicating the benefits of space technologies. |
