The History Department at Union College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of the History of Technology and/or Medicine in the Global South, with a preference for expertise in South Asian history. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent preparation to teach courses in the history of technology and/or medicine, including courses that reflect the candidate’s geographic and chronological area(s) of specialization, which will contribute to the Science, Technology, and Society program, the relevant area studies program (Africana Studies, Asian Studies, or Latin American and Caribbean Studies), and possibly the Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering program. The normal teaching load at Union College is six courses over three trimesters, with a one course reduction the first year. The candidate would be expected to offer courses ranging from the introductory level to junior seminars and to supervise senior projects as well as participating in the college’s general education curriculum.
